Privacy policy

1. Who we are
Clack is made by Manuel Obelleiro Liz, publishing as MNBG, in Spain, who is the data controller for the data described here. Contact: mnbg.games@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
- A random id the game makes on your device. It isn't your name, your email or your phone's advertising id.
- How you play: your moves, boards, scores, how runs end, the game's estimate of your skill and how hard the game had become, and which optional ads you were offered and watched or closed.
- Your country, worked out from your connection when the game contacts our server. We don't store your IP address.
- Technical errors in the game.
We don't ask for your name, email, contacts, photos or precise location, and there are no accounts. With Send play data off, the game still asks our server for its settings, but nothing about you or your play is stored.
3. Ads
The game shows ads through Google AdMob: optional ones you choose to watch for a paint bomb or an undo, and ones between runs. Google and its partners may collect your device's advertising id, approximate location and how you interact with ads. Where the law requires it, the game asks for your consent first, and you can change your answer in Settings → Ad privacy choices. On iPhone, Apple's prompt asks whether apps may track you; the game plays the same whichever you choose. To report an ad, use Settings → Report an ad. Google's privacy policy.
4. How we use it
- To run the game and keep your progress on your device.
- To fix errors and tune the game, including how hard it gets.
- The game adapts to you. How you play, and how long your run has lasted, changes which pieces you are dealt and how much rust appears. The game crowds the plate, then gives you room, and it gets harder the longer a run lasts, so every run ends. Your device does this; with Send play data on, the game's estimate of your skill is sent with the rest of your play data.
- To compare versions of the game, by giving different players different settings at random.
- To understand optional ads. We record each time the game offers one and whether you took it, to decide when and how often to offer them. The paint bomb is offered after a jam when your score is at least half your best or a piece nearly fits. Ads play no part in how hard the game gets: the game doesn't predict whether you'll watch one, and never makes you lose more or sooner because of ads.
5. Our legal basis (GDPR)
- Play data in the EEA and UK: your consent. It stays off until you turn on Settings → Send play data, and you can turn it off at any time.
- Play data elsewhere: our legitimate interest in fixing and improving the game. You can object by turning off Send play data.
- Personalised ads, where the law requires it: the consent you give in the form the game shows.
- Adapting the game on your device: it is part of providing the game you chose to play.
None of this leads to a decision with legal or similarly significant effects on you.
6. Who gets the data
Cloudflare, which hosts our server, whose database is in Western Europe. Google, for ads. Apple, if you choose to share crash reports with developers. We don't sell your data. Both are bound by data-protection terms that give your data the same or equal protection as this policy. They may process it outside your country, under the safeguards in those terms.
7. How long we keep it
Play data is kept for 12 months from the day it reaches our server, then deleted. Models and statistics made from it before then hold no ids, and we keep those.
8. Your choices and rights
- Withdraw your consent at any time. Turn off Settings → Send play data, and what hasn't been sent is deleted on your device. Change your ad choices in Settings → Ad privacy choices, and on iPhone change tracking in the phone's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- You can ask to see, correct, delete or receive a copy of what we hold, to limit how we use it, or to object. Write to mnbg.games@gmail.com with your id, which Settings → Copy player id gives you. We can't find your data without it. We answer within one month, and if you ask us to delete your data, that includes what has already reached our server.
- You may complain to your data protection authority. In Spain, that is the AEPD.
9. Children
Clack isn't aimed at children, and the game doesn't ask your age. In the EEA and UK, Send play data and the ad form rely on consent, which only someone old enough in their country can give: 14 in Spain, and between 13 and 16 elsewhere. Anyone younger should leave Send play data off, or ask a parent. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we'll delete it.
10. Changes
We'll post changes here and update the date above.
